Scripture and
Meditation:
As the Children of Israel were journeying through the
wilderness the Amalekites attacked.
As long as Moses held up his hands the
Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were
winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him
and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, and one on
the other—so that his hands remained steady till
sunset. So Joshua overcame (Ex.
17:11-13 NIV).
By stretching out his hands toward heaven, Moses demonstrated by
his posture total dependence on God. But he could not do it alone…We cannot
prevail alone in the battles of this life. Trusted companions must be there to
support us. Moses was in earnest prayer over the victory of Israel and Aaron
and Hus interceded with him.
