Sundown worship on the bus

The sun set as our members, along with some Romanians, traveled to Iasi. Time for sundown worship.

Bert Logan was asked to provide a devotional for the English speakers. No translator was available, so the Romanians had their sundown worship as well.

Bert shared this thought from his devotional book along with John 6:37: "All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away."(NIV)

Heading to Iasi

More travelers arrived in Bucharest Friday and boarded the bus to Iasi. Here's another brief report from Bert Logan:

Pit stop on our way to Iasi. Should arrive there around 10-11 pm.  Last flight came in and some of those folks are flying to Iasi like Ben, Dave S, Denny Nutter and Cottermans.  Little Texas will be our lodging for tonight.

Groups Begin Arriving in Romania

 The morning of June 2, Bert Logan writes:

My group made it safely to Romania.

However the last group of 6-8 people have been delayed a couple of hours. Here is the info from Denny Nutter:

"After a flight delay in PDX, we successfully arrived in Copenhagen, just in time to board the KLM plane for Bucharest. After we all settled in to our seats and waited for 30 minutes, they announced that the plane needed a repair. So we are deplaning and have at least two hours wait before we before we reboard for Bucharest."

So we (Bert's group) wait at Bucharest airport until they arrive. Our bus is here and then a six-hour drive to Iasi, which means we will arrive there around 9-10 pm Friday night (Romania time, which means they likely have recently arrived, as of this posting).

What's the time difference?

So, what's the time difference between Portland and Bucharest, Romania and Kiev, Ukraine?

According to the Google search answer, for both Romania and Ukraine, it's a 10-hour difference - they are 10 hours ahead of us who are in the Pacific Time Zone.

For instance, as I write this, it's about 10 a.m. That would make it about 8 p.m. in Romania and Ukraine.

Group Travels through DC, Request Prayer for Marlene W.

OAMC member Bert Logan reported Thursday morning from Washington DC as their group of five - Lanier and Marlene Watson, Bill Gosse, Vladimir, and Bert - was waiting to go through security. They boarded their flight for Turkey, then on to Bucharest, Romania, to join the Romanian Adventist Men's Chorus in concert this Sabbath. The concert commemorates the birth of the Reformation 500 years ago this year.

Bert requested prayer for Marlene, as the was experiencing so much leg and groin pain she needed a wheelchair. By the time they boarded, Bert reported Marlene was feeling better.

Please continue to keep this traveling group, and especially Marlene, in your prayers.

News from Travelers, Prayers Requested

From Louise Craig, OAMC executive director, in Amsterdam, Wednesday, May 31

Our members are traveling in various groupings.

The Tilleys (Ron & Rhonda) and the Schmidts (David & Donna) arrived in Amsterdam this (Wednesday) afternoon, sleep deprived but glad to be on the ground.

Their flights (different flights from different cities) were delayed 3+ hours. The Tilleys' flight out of Seattle was held up by fog. Schmidts were stuck in Denver because of mechanical problems. One would not want to take off if there are mechanical difficulties on the plane. So they arrived in the afternoon instead of early morning.

So glad I (Louise) came a day early. I have some semblance of rest.

PRAYERS NEEDED! Thanks, everyone, for praying for this project. Your prayers are still needed. We heard today that there is an air traffic controller strike in Romania, so those going to Romania may face some challenges. We are praying that they will settle their dispute before any of us arrive.

The week before we left, God resolved a big problem with an even bigger miracle. We are looking forward to watching Him continue to amaze us. He is several steps ahead of us with answers to problems we have not yet heard about, but we are trusting every step.

Gearing up for Ukraine Mission

Those who have been following us for the last several months on our website or on Facebook know our trip to Ukraine is imminent. 

Here's a summary: 

• Members of our advance team have already departed.
• Other members have chosen to depart before the weekend of June 3 in order to join Alin Apostol and our Romanian brethren in a special concert in Romania to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's nailing of the 95 theses to the church door - the act that lead to the birth of the Reformation. 
• From there, OAMC members and Romanian members will travel by bus and air to Kiev.
• A number of OAMC members are departing over the weekend to Kiev.
• In Kiev, all the singers - from the United States, Romania, Spain and Ukraine - will converge to rehearse, get acquainted and prepare for the upcoming concerts.

Please keep our travelers in your prayers.

We also solicit your thoughts and prayers for this mission trip and for Ukraine.The Ukraine conference has undertaken a large-scale evangelistic effort across much of the nation. The men's chorus is helping to support this evangelistic effort.
